LTE test mobile from Signalion at the 3GSM World Congress 2007
At the 3GSM World Congress 2007 Signalion’s LTE test UE will be part of live video transmission demonstrations of Rohde & Schwarz.
3GPP-LTE (Long Term Evolution) a cellular standard currently standardized as the successor of current UMTS technology will be able to transfer data at a peak rate of 100 megabits per second. This new technology for cellular network access will enhance the current W-CDMA standard with OFDM technology and will coexist with 2G and 3G networks. 3GPP-LTE radio networks are expected to be ready for the market by 2010. The new standard ensures the long-term competitiveness of UMTS. It will enable new services such as the delivery of high-definition videos to mobile devices. The 3GPP-LTE standardization is still ongoing.
Signalion is a pioneer among the growing family of 3GPP-LTE supporting companies. With Sorbas110 Signalion provides a first-time test solution for LTE-basestations. Sorbas110 is a prototype user equipment (UE) that enables base station developers to test their designs against a reference mobile terminal already at a stage where the 3GPP-LTE standard is not finalized. Software Defined Radio (SDR) concepts enable the system to keep up with standard changes continuously. A scalable hardware platform with a 4 channel RF-front-end ensures the processing power needed for advanced technologies such as MIMO, beamforming, and HARQ. The current implementation focuses on layer 1 and 2. The support of layer 3 functionalities is foreseen for the future.
At the 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona Signalion’s LTE test UE will be part of demonstrations of Rohde & Schwarz as well as Alcatel-Lucent.
Rohde & Schwarz demonstrates a live video transmission using the 3GPP-LTE standard implemented in their signal generation solution. R&S is among the front-runners working toward the next generation of mobile radio. At the 3GSM World Congress 2007 the company presents solutions for analyzing and generating 3GPP-LTE signals in the downlink and in the uplink by using the R&S FSQ signal analyzer and the R&S SMU200A signal generator.
Signalion offers complete 3GPP-LTE solutions from one source which include:
- the Sorbas platform,
- a growing stack of intellectual property, and
- dedicated consulting services for 3GPP-LTE.
This enables the developers to keep up with the ongoing standardization and saves development time and costs. With Alcatel-Lucent and Rohde & Schwarz among its partners Signalion supports some of the leading companies in their business area.
